How to Make the Recipe

Now, let’s dive into the fun part—making these cookies!

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.
  2. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Then, add in the egg and vanilla and mix until well combined.
  3. Next, add in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat on low just until combined—don’t overmix!
  4. Now, fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  5. Using a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop, place dough balls (stacked high for thicker cookies) on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. For that extra touch, place a few extra chocolate chips on top of each cookie ball. This is optional but makes for a very pretty cookie!
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes. I usually pull mine out at 8 minutes; they will look slightly underdone but will continue to cook as they cool a bit.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Pro Tips for Making the Recipe

Here are some of my favorite tips to ensure your cookies turn out perfectly every time:

  • Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for the best texture.
  • Use a cookie scoop for uniform cookies that bake evenly.
  • Don’t skip the chilling step if you have time; it helps the flavors meld and can prevent spreading.
  • Experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts for a fun twist!

How to Serve

These cookies are perfect on their own, but if you want to elevate your dessert game, try serving them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. You can also pair them with a glass of cold milk or a cup of coffee for a delightful afternoon treat. Make Ahead and Storage

If you want to prepare these cookies ahead of time, you can scoop the dough into balls and freeze them. Just place the cookie dough balls on a baking sheet and freeze until solid, then transfer them to a zip-top bag. When you’re ready to bake, just add a couple of extra minutes to the baking time. For storage, keep the baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. They also freeze beautifully, so feel free to stash some away for later!
