Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  

Butter
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
Eggs
  • 1 egg egg
Vanilla
  • 2 tepoons vanilla
Flour
  • 2 1/8 cups all-purpose flour Scoop and level, see notes
Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Chocolate Chips
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.
  2. Beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
  3. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; beat on low until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Use a 2 tbsp cookie scoop to place dough on the prepared baking sheet. Top with extra chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, stack dough balls high when placing on the baking sheet.
