Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
Wet ingredients
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted coconut oil)
  • ¼ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Whisk wet ingredients in another.
  3. Combine wet and dry, then fold in chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
  4. Pour batter into pan, sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  5. Bake 55–65 minutes, cool before slicing.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the batter.
