  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients; cream butter and sugar, then add egg and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry and wet; divide dough, color one part green.
  4. Roll out green dough, cut into tree shapes, and bake 8-10 minutes.
  5. Cool cookies, then decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.

Notes

Use a sturdy cookie cutter for best results and store cookies in an airtight container.
