  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Method
 

  1. Whisk honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. Whisk cornstarch and water until smooth in another bowl. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the honey-soy sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  8. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve over rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions, if desired.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of chili oil.
