  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)
Optional toppings

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Mix dry ingredients; cream butter and sugars; add egg and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry and wet mixtures; beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla.
  4. Form dough balls, add filling, and optionally top with crushed cookies.
  5. Bake 10-12 minutes; cool before serving.
