Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix dry ingredients; cream butter and sugar, add egg and extracts, then combine with dry ingredients to form dough.
- Refrigerate dough for 1 hour, then roll out and cut shapes.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden. Cool completely.
- Prepare royal icing by beating egg whites, then gradually add powdered sugar and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form. Decorate cookies and let set.
